Rehearsal Dinner, July 6
The wedding party will rehearse at the Zoo from 6:00 p.m. to about 6:30.
Cocktails will be served in the foyer while we and our guests have fun in the gardens with our butterflies! We have the entire exhibit to ourselves from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m..
Then it’s time for the food! We will all eat in the River House, watching the sun set off the city buildings, while we prepare as a family for the events of the following day!
Where We'll Dine
Chris, David’s mom, among other wonderful things is on the board of directors for the Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens. She has her board meetings in a room with east sided windows panning across the entire room, giving an astounding view of our City! The room is called, “The River House”, and is part of the White River Gardens.
As it’s name suggests, the facility sits directly on the White River and houses gardens. The reason that this is site is exciting to David and I is the exibit that will be open (only to our party) that evening: The butterflies!
The butterfly is a symbol of spiritual transformation, fragility, and beauty. It is also a symbol of rebirth and renewal, particularly of the spiritual self. The symbol of the butterfly is equally applicable to profound personal changes within this life. Rebirth is a phenomenon that we may encounter numerous times we pass through the various stages of life and acquire a new sense of self. In some legends the butterfly is the bringer of sleep and dreams, in others the symbol of feminine fertility and the bringer of children. In Asian folktales, two butterflies together are star-crossed lovers reunited after death. A butterfly in the house is a sign of an upcoming wedding.
